Susan Zuckerman, M.D.

1953-1992

Dr. Susan Zuckerman was a talented and devoted psychoanalyst who died April 13, 1992 at the age of 39. During her psychoanalytic training at the University of California San Francisco she was awarded the Harry F. Albronda Memorial Award for "exceptional psychotherapeutic skill and unusual concern for the welfare of her patients."

Dr. Zuckerman graduated from the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute in 1989. She practiced psychiatry and psychoanalysis in Palo Alto from 1984 to 1991. She was a widely-sought teacher who gave generously of her time on the faculties of psychiatry residency programs at UCSF, Stanford, and San Mateo County.

Dr. Zuckerman's special are of interest was the psychoanalytic study of film. She developed several film and lecture colloquia presented by the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute. In her short life Dr. Zuckerman gave a great deal to others through her intelligence, professional skill, humor, and enjoyment of people. It is in this spirit that The Susan Zuckerman, M.D. Memorial Fund was established by family, friends, and colleagues to present a screening-and-lecture series in her honor.
